It was a weird moment in my life. My mom had just told me that I had lost my aunt (her sister). She let me know that Peggy had passed peacefully in her sleep.
Throughout the course of my life I have had to deal with a significant amount of death, bothin my own life and through the church. I lay in bed, processing the moment and, surprisingly, I felt better.
I have been grieving a lot lately. People dying always hurt my heart, and when it seems so tragic it hurts even more. I’ve also been grieving the reaction of so many people passionately defending their positions.
Everyone loves my Aunt Peggy and Uncle Pat. In a lot of ways, they have been the glue that holds the family together. They are exuberant, mischievous, fun, and they love unconditionally....
This past weekend our family celebrated ninety years of life for my wife’s Oma (grandmother). Oma’s party was an absolute success, and the smile on her face looked like it was built on a foundation of a lifetime of happiness. Generation after generation of the family filled the room, and it was good....
